BRAND NEW SONG was the first song I've heard from KinKi Kids. I remembered it was when I was watching "Music Station" on Animax, and they were introducing the #1 hit song for the week. So the Kinki Kids came and sang their new song called "BRAND NEW SONG". The moment I heard them singing, I felt this sudden urge to get my laptop and find more about this song. This is definitely a good example of a HIT song! For the next 4 minutes, I was glued to the screen, enjoying the powerful vocal of KinKi Kids. I would (try to) never forget that moment.
Definitely a 5/5 rating for BRAND NEW SONG, with pleasant music, powerful vocal, and a 'feel-good' mood.
*Oh yeah, KinKi Kids is listed in the guinness book of records for having the most number of consecutive singles that debuted at #1 on their chart! Wow, I never knew they were that impressive! Thank you wikipedia!
Looks like the new album from Home Made Kazoku (my fav band!) has been released! It seems to contains some of the best hits of Home Made Kazoku, such as "Thank You!!", as well as the latest single "Oboeteru". There is also some new songs such as "Futari ga Ii ne" (translation is something like "Aren't two people great") and a new remix "Home Sweet Home". I have not listen to every single songs yet, but it really looks promising. I will write some reviews as soon as I hear the new songs. Go Home Made Kazoku!! Woohoo!!

Orange Range is one of my favorite band. This was the very first song I have heard from them, and it was in one of the ending song of Naruto. Personally, this is one of the best songs I have heard from Orange Range. The song start off with an interesting 'army style' cheer (see the video below, damn funny). The bass and the guitar is very strong, but yet not overpowering the vocals. The strong chords and bass of this song is a very unique characteristic of this song. There is definitely a nice mix of Pop and Rock.
Interestingly, this song has a very strong American theme (weird). At certain part of the song, you can hear cheerleaders shouting out some alphabets. Yep, they are shouting A.M.E.R.I.C.A.N. This may be because This is attributed the Orange Range's hometown is in Okinawa, a well known station for American military bases and thus cultures and different styles often blend. Very interesting indeed.
What a change from last year. I really begin to feel like I am in an ensemble now. We now have...
Our own file to put our scores in (looooong over due, it could have prevented many many 'lost' scores incident)
a more 'proper' ensemble practice
sectionals
a good instructor who knows what he is doing....
...And i became the sectional leader for section 1 (.....woohoo!...). Although I honestly do not know what to do as a leader, well, I will have to start somewhere don't I. The instructor taught us how to play with more rhythmic sense by clapping the notes. My piano teachers all used to do that, and it is usually quite effective. That's why I have this feelin that the instructor really knows what he is doing.
I feel that this guitar ensemble is going to have a good year ahead.
Today guitar session was inspiring. Two new guy came and introduced us as our instructors. They looked... erm.... anything but a guitar instructor. They look more like a office worker, and it was really weird to have a very calm (and even gentle!) instructor, rather than some guy in t-shirt and jeans and looked 'hip'.
But I was very impressed with them. They were very organised and my jaw really dropped when they showed us what they proposed to do for guitar ensemble to the principal. (They really have a proposal, like some job interview lol) They really knew what they were doing, unlike *cough* our previous instructor *cough*. One of showed his portfolio.... Grade 8 guitar abrsm, diploma guitar trinity, yamaha teacher grade 5 guitar, tons of awards, tons of police officer certificate... Unbelievable. I really feel that I was in a guitar ensemble for once lol.
Listen to the song here! (above) *May take some time to load
Let's start with something recent. Nana Mizuki's new album, Starcamp EP, and the song that I really loved, "Dancing in the velvet moon". Before this song, I have never heard of Nana Mizuki. I heard this song at the ending song of the anime series "Rosario+Vampire".
The moment I heard the song, I really have this sudden urge to listen to the full song. I love the background music, like how the electric guitar, piano, vocal and orchestral mix together. I appreciate songs that mixes classical and modern instrument together. One instrument worth mentioning is the used of harpsichord, an ancient type of piano used during the Baroque period of music. Its distinct and sharp sound really goes well with this song, giving the song an overall Gothic and yet elegant feel. It certainly have plenty of momentum and the 'feel good' mood.
Also worth mentioning is the transition part just before the final chorus (3mins+), where Nana sang in a sweet and innocent voice (almost till the point of errire...). A very refreshing transition part which reinforces the whole gothic+elegant feel.
Yay... First post... The purpose of this whole blog is to mainly highlight some of the songs (mostly Japaneses) that I think are a HIT.
What is a HIT? They are songs that I love the second I listen to them for the first time, something like love at first sight. I will then rank the artist by how many HIT songs they have. You can also download these songs.
I will sometimes talk about other stuff such as my life, or interesting happenings in the internet worth mentioning.
